Sand Timer Countdown

            How to make your own Sand timer using

                           PowerPoint 2010?

                 Features we’re going to use.

                   1. Insert Shapes (Rectangle and Triangle)

                   2. Custom Shapes (Shapes Union)

                    3. Animations (Wipe)

 

 


1. Start by Inserting objects.

2. Use Shape Union (Custom Shapes feature.)

3. Format the Picture,

  • For the BODY, Go to Format Tab –> Shape fill = White
  • For the SAND, Right click the Object –> Select Format Shape –> Fill Tab –> Picture or Texture Fill –> Texture –> Select SAND

4. Copy the image, and flip vertically in Format Tab. (The sand below the sand timer make a rectangle object)

5. Move images, but make sure the Sand Object is in front of the Body object then add the necessary animation shown below.

For the 1 minute mark it’s better to add a text indicating that the time is up. Add an animation for 1 second, and make sure the animation comes after the sand timer.



YouTube Video Directly to PowerPoint 2010

We always want to include a Video to our presentations during reports, talks; and usually these videos are from YouTube.

The great thing with PowerPoint 2010,  it has a capability to easily embed videos directly from YouTube.


Embed YouTube video in PowerPoint 2010

1. Open PowerPoint 2010 and a web browser.

2. Go to www.youtube.com

3. Search for the video you want to include in your presentation

4. Scroll down, and Click the “Embed” button.

5. Copy the embed code.

6. Go back to your PowerPoint application

7. Go to “Insert” Tab

8. Select the Video dropdown menu, and Select Video from Web Site.

9. Paste directly the copied “embed code” from YouTube.

10. Y0u can also resize the video, the figure below shows the embedded video in Reading View

or try to be creative like placing it to an object

Add Background Image

This just a continuation of my previous post Remove Background. Remove background feature basically will just remove the part of the image you don’t want to see.

So here in this post, I’m going to teach you How to Add a Background to a removed background image.


Here’s an example of an image that has been manipulated by removing the background.

How to Add a Background?

1. Right Click and Select Format Picture and a window will appear

2. Select Fill from the left side

3. Select Picture or Texture Fill

image

4. Click File and search for the image you want to be the background

5. Then there you go!

Remove Background

No need for third party software! Done using Office 2010 onlySmile

How to use the Remove Background Feature:

1. Open {Word, Excel, PowerPoint}

2. Insert Picture  (Go to Insert Tab –> Select Insert Picture from the images group –> Select Picture you want to include)

3. Once the image is already there. Double Click the image and a Contextual tab will appear – the Format tab.

You can see the Remove Background feature at the left most part in the format tab.image


4. Select the remove background button. (The Purple color represents the area of the image to be removed)

5. You can mark areas to keep, remove, delete mark or discard all changes.

(+) Keep, (-) Remove

6. If you’re already satisfied with the image, just simply click Keep Changes, then there you go!
